Ayreon's EPIC ROCK CHOIR
Ayreon's Epic Rock Choir Story ...
The Epic Rock Choir was put together in the summer of 2014 after two auditioning rounds. For the first round all singers that would like to be a part of the choir could send in an audition video. Over 100 video's were sent in. Of all those video's the best 25 singers were chosen to participate in a second auditioning round held at the Energiehuis in Dordrecht. Some singers travelled from other countries to be present. Out of those 25 eventually 19 singers were chosen to be in the choir.
This choir was first put together for the Shadow Freaks production "The Theater Equation" which is to take place at the Luxor Theater in Rotterdam in September of 2015. This is a theatrical experience of the in 2004 released "The Human Equation" album by the Dutch composer Arjen Anthony Lucassen.
As the music for this production is rather bombastic it was decided that a choir was needed in order to amplify the experience.
Except for this project the Epic Rock Choir has already participated in several other projects such as recording pieces for the Gentle Storm album "The Diary" and the Computer Mind project. The choir has also been a part of the Serious Request single "The Power Of Love" and has shared the stage with Dutch musician Robby Valentine at one of his shows.
As you can see the Epic Rock Choir is here to stay!
My role in this story ... ?
That picture next to mastermind Arjen Lucassen is definitely reflecting my stressful sleepless night before auditioning ... but also the joy and sense of achievement knowing that I just got selected to be an epic rock choir singer!!!
Soon I would found out that I also got selected as an understudy for the role of ''wife'' working with one of my favorite singers, Marcela Bovio ... the journey had just begun!
Well ... it still feels like a dream! It was a few years ago that I hold this awesome album including so many of my favorite artists and listening to it's amazing concept for the first time with my only reaction being ... ''WOW'' !
Having the opportunity to be part of this and share the stage with all these amazing artists is just an incredible experience!
I am looking forward to experience ''The Theater Equation'' with all of you out there!
